Church Point, LA: Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, June 10, 2018 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Mary Lee Doucet, 86, the former Mary Lee Venable. Mrs. Doucet, a native and long-time resident of Church Point and the "Jagneauxville" community, died Thursday morning, June 7 at her residence. Monsignor Jefferson J. DeBlanc will conduct the services with entombment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum on Hwy 35 north of Church Point.
Survivors include her sons: Albert Doucet and wife Elaine of Church Point, Emery Doucet and wife Naomi of Port Barre, LA, Charles Ray Doucet of Island Lake, IL, Mike Doucet and wife Brenda of Church Point, Harry Doucet, Jr. and wife Gayle of Bossier City, LA and "Mac" Doucet and wife Mimi of Church Point; her daughters, Catherine Doucet and Belinda Manuel and husband Todd-all of Church Point; a daughter-in-law, Peggy Doucet of Church Point; 19 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Doucet, Sr.; her parents, "Tommy" and Lily Jagneaux Venable; a son, J.B. Doucet; a brother, Joseph T. Venable; two sisters, Mary Guidry and Neldine David and her in-laws, Adam Doucet, Sr. and Lucia Sonnier Doucet. The family requested that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the services on Sunday, June 10 . A recitation of the Rosary will be held there at 2:00 P.M. Sunday by Monsignor DeBlanc.
Pallbearers will be Chad, Blake, Nick, Brad and Garrett Doucet; Evgeni Ivanov and Ben Manuel. The Altar Server will be Cole Doucet, Eucharistic Minister will be Ken David, Gift Bearers will be Megan Israel, Brody Doucet and April Ivanov and Readers will be Susan Hanly, Rachel Bordelon and Claire Doucet. Mrs. Doucet, a retired employee of Garan Industries, was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family's "Angel of Mercy", she helped family members through hard times. Whether it was cooking, ironing, or cleaning house; she was always there for them. The family wishes to thank Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care and their chaplain, Ken David, for their care, Monsignor Jeff for visiting, Sidney and Marion Venable for administering Communion, "Junior" and Barbara Doucet for keeping her involved and loving her like a sister and a special thanks to Naomi and "Bemma" for their love and care.
