Obituary

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point for Martin Carl Andrus,70. Mr. Andrus died at 7:15 P.M. Sunday, November 25, 2007 at Opelousas General Hospital. He was a native of Sunset, La. and a long-time resident of Church Point. Father Blair Lope Sabaricos will conduct the services with interment following in St. Charles Catholic Cemetery in Grand Coteau, La.
Survivors include his son, Andrew Andrus & wife Verna of Biloxi, Mississippi; three daughters: Carla Andrus of Lafayette, La., Amy Andrus of Garden City, Georgia and Claire A. Hudson & husband Charlie of Rincon, Georgia. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Jolie Marion, Ben Andrus, Kevin & Kile Andrus, J.C. Daigle and Alex Hudson; five great-grandchildren: Tyler Andrus, George & Catie Marion, Hayden Andrus and Ell Bradley and a brother, J.A. Andrus of Lafayette; a stepbrother, Malcolm Beaugh; two stepsisters, Marcelle McCain and Lois DeJean and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Sidney Andrus; his mother, Lorena Prejean Beaugh; his father, Oliver Andrus; his step-father, Sidney Beaugh; a grandson, Aaron Christopher Hudson; a sister, Ida Ruth Lavergne; a stepbrother, J.R. "Cree" Beaugh and two stepsisters, Lula Comeaux and Clara Busby.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 3:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M. on Tuesday and continue on Wednesday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of services.
Mr. Andrus was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was the former President of Church Point Bank & Trust Co. of Church Point, a position he held for 20 years. He retired after 50 years of service and remained a member of the Church Point Bank Board of Directors. He was recently honored by the Louisiana Banking Association for over 50 years of banking service. He was a member of Woodmen of the World Camp 444 of Church Point and was an avid golfer.
A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday.
