Church Point, LA:    Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, January 26, 2024 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Martha Bordelon, 94, the former Martha Florence Fontenot. Mrs. Bordelon, a native of Church Point and resident of Eunice, LA, died Tuesday evening, January 23 at Eunice Manor Nursing Home in Eunice, LA with her family by her side. Father Edward Duhon will conduct the services with Entombment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum adjacent to the Church in Church Point.

Mrs. Bordelon, a devout and loving wife, mother, and grandmother, was truly loved and will be missed by all who knew her. Her family and friends, who knew her as "Pangy", were always welcome in her home. She was a devout Catholic and was devoted to her faith and family. Her early years were spent in Church Point, where she attended Church Point High school and played basketball. After attending Spencer Business College, she worked at Quibby's Pharmacy until she married James Bordelon in 1949. Mrs. Bordelon lived in Louisiana, Texas, and Scotland and was a long-time resident of Eunice, LA. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends and cooking for her family during holidays. She instilled in her children life-long values of caring and compassion.

Survivors include her children: Phyllis Chancey and husband John of Katy, TX, Clay Bordelon and wife Dionne of Basile, LA, Brian Bordelon and wife Rachel of Tomball, TX, Denise Frederick and husband Keith of Rayne, LA, and Elizabeth Hennig of Lafayette, LA; 16 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; her siblings Betty Thibodeaux and husband Herman, Bonnie Hopper, Patsy Blum and husband Dan, and Joseph Jake "JJ" Fontenot. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Bordelon; her parents, Lufroy Fontenot, Sr. and Lezia Bellard Fontenot; her siblings: Julie Fontenot, Dennis "Tip" Fontenot, Zannis "Boose" Fontenot, Lufroy Fontenot, Jr., Rufus "Coe" Fontenot and Ethel Payne; a stepbrother, Jules Carrier and a stepsister, Vernice C. Prevost.

The family requested that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 9:00 AM Friday until the time of services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held there at 11:00 AM by Deacon Byrne Winn. The family wishes to thank Dr. Satinder Saini, Dr. Jevin Bordelon, Rebekah Bordelon, PAC, Hope Hospice, and the staff at Eunice Manor.
