Church Point, LA: A celebration of life will be held at Guidry Funeral Home on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at 3:00 PM for Marilyn Jane Scott, 87 years old. Marilyn, a native of Whiteville, LA and a resident of Church Point, died peacefully at her home surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, January 26, 2023 of end-stage COPD.
For a combined 27 years, Marilyn served as a beloved elementary school teacher and Acadia Parish school board office employee. Mumsy, as she was called by her grandchildren, loved her family and friends, decorating her home for every holiday, volunteering for various charitable organizations, traveling, playing card games, eating fine foods, and drinking fine wine. Deeply cherished, she will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter, Andrea Vidrine of Church Point; her grandsons, Zack and Joshua Hamburg of Houston, TX; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ken and Suellen Vidrine of Opelousas and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roger and Emily Scott; her son-in-law, Aaron Hebert; her first husband, Andrew Vidrine; her second husband, Louis Arceneaux; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Minnie Pearl and Archie Colvin of Ferriday, LA and Dorothy Mae and Jack Murphy of Houston, TX and one niece, Maxine Murphy of Houston, TX.
The family requests that visitation be observed at Guidry Funeral Home on Saturday, January 28, 2023 from 2:00 PM until the time that the celebration of life begins.
Heartfelt gratitude is extended to Marilyn's dear caregivers Debbie Prejean, Charlene Miller, Christine Olivier, Lovely Fontenot, Kayla Estilette, and Wanda Schmitz. Warm appreciation is extended to Christine Johnson, Kimmie Poret, Brittany Malveaux, Tyler Redmon, Raven Handy, Sylvester Murphy, Bridget Schultz, Chris Walkers, Debbie Chenevert, Dr. Michael Burnell, Dr. Richard Harmon and all the staff of LA Hospice and Palliative Care. Finally, a sincere thank you to Dr. Fernando Alemany and his kind staff for their considerate care over many years. Guidry Funeral Home, 219 N. Broadway Street, Church Point, LA 70525 is in charge of Marilyn's final arrangements.
