Church Point, LA Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Marie Louise Sonnier, 89. Ms. Sonnier, a native of Church Point and long-time resident of Shreveport, LA, died Tuesday morning, October 2 at Heritage Manor of Opelousas, LA. Monsignor Jefferson J. DeBlanc will conduct the services with entombment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum adjacent to the church.

Survivors include two sisters, Clara Darbonne of Washington, LA and Sister Ethel Marie Sonnier of Ft. Smith, AR and a large extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Isabelle Marie Thibodeaux Sonnier; two brothers, Allen and Wilbur Sonnier and four sisters: Rose Williams, Leora Oakley, Mattie Sonnier and Betty Sparks.

The family requested that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 4:00P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 3 and continue from 8:00 A.M. Thursday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held there at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday by Deacon Bryne Winn.

After being a surgical nurse at Schumpert Hospital in Shreveport for some thirty years and doing missionary work in Mexico; Ms. Sonnier returned to Church Point where she served as an Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Eucharistic Minister, serving Acadia-St. Landry Hospital in Church Point.
