Church Point, LA Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 16, 2017 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Marie Ella Savoie, 89, the former Marie Ella Richard. Mrs. Savoie, a native and long-time resident of rural St. Landry Parish near Church Point, died Friday morning, October 13 at Acadia-St. Landry Hospital in Church Point. Monsignor Jefferson J. DeBlanc will conduct the services with entombment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum on Hwy 35 north of Church Point.

Survivors include two daughters, Melba Fruge of Sunset, LA and Diane Bates of Urbana, Il; her sisters, Theresa Olivier of Lafayette, La, Genora Ragsdale of Allen, TX and Ursula, Josephine, Mary Maude and Louise Richard-all of Church Point; a grandson, Harold Mark Savoie II and a step-grandson, Matthew Soileau-both of Lafayette and a good friend of the family, James Champion, Jr. She was preceded in death by her husband, Virley Savoie; her parents, Theogene and Inez Guidry Richard; a son, Harold Mark Savoie; a brother and her sons-in-law, Felton James Fruge and Lester Bates. The family requested that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 4:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 15 and continue from 9:00 A.M. Monday until the time of services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held there at 7:00 P.M. Sunday by Monsignor DeBlanc. A devout Catholic, Mrs. Savoie was truly loved by her family.
