Church Point, LA A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3:30 P.M. Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Marie Joubert, 88, the former Marie Thibodeaux. Mrs. Joubert, a native and long-time resident of rural St. Landry Parish near Church Point, died Sunday morning, June 11 at her residence after a brief illness. Father Godwin Nzeh will conduct the services with entombment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum on Hwy 35 north of Church Point. The wife of John Joubert and mother of five children; she is survived by her children, Sandra Pefferkorn and husband Greg, Annette Sweeney and husband Glenn, Blaine Joubert and wife Sandi and Donavon Joubert and wife Jan-all of Church Point and Cynthia Joubert and spouse Bridgette Greer of Youngsville, LA; two sisters, Louisiana Fruge of Church Point and Edna Smith of Lawtell, LA; thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, Doremus and Mary Azelie Richard Thibodeaux; her brothers: Placide, Oscar, Alcide, Alcee, Pierre, John and Eby Thibodeaux; a sister, Virginia Thibodeaux Faul and her grandchildren, Travis Menard and Dawn Mayer. The family requested that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the services on Wednesday. A recitation of the Rosary will be held there at 2:45 P.M. by Fr. Godwin. Pallbearers will be Blaine and Donavon Joubert; Glenn, Nicholas and Neal Sweeney and Greg Pefferkorn; readers will be Halie Joubert and Madisyn Fruge with Hayden, Kade, Hunter, Lexie and Gavyn as gift bearers. The family says in thanks to her caregivers, Kay Trahan, Lori Cormier, Jo Ann Miller, Judy Brignac and Delores "Tweet" Schexnider: "These angels of mercy worked round the clock for 41/2 years catering to mom's needs with love, affection and humor." Working hard in the fields alongside her husband, she sewed all her children's clothes and cooked the most delicious meals. Mrs. Joubert enjoyed all their camping trips with the Cenla Smiling Sams Club, playing cards with friends, trips with the Lawtell Homemakers Club and friends and going to the OGH Fitness Club several times a week. Mondays were set aside to attend prayer and Mass at the Chapel with her sister, Lou Fruge. This continued for over twenty-five years until she was too ill to attend.
