Church Point, LA:     Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Margaret Lowen "Ms. Matte" Oakley Matte, 72, the former Margaret Lowen Barousse. Ms. Matte, a native and long-time resident of Church Point, died Sunday morning, January 19 at Acadia-St. Landry Guest Home in Church Point. Pastor Patrick Broussard will conduct the services with interment following in the Monsignor Bienvenu Mausoleum on Hwy 35 north of Church Point.

Survivors include her son, Joe Oakley and wife Lizz of Church Point; a daughter, Carmen Oakley of Texarkana, TX; a sister, Cassandra Barousse Robinson and husband Robert of Lawtell, LA; three grandchildren, Gavin Joseph Oakley, Margaret Kay Cranford and Gracie Elizabeth Oakley and her extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Lee and Margaret Briscoe Barousse. The family requested that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 1:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 21 and continue from 8:00 A.M. Wednesday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held there at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday by Deacon Bryne Winn.

Ms. Matte retired after some forty-three years as a teacher in the Acadia Parish School System. Always happy and smiling and a firm believer in, "Tomorrow is a brand-new day.", "Ms. Matte" never forgot a student's name.
