Church Point, LA: “It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our dear sister and aunt, Louise Richard. She was born on October 19, 1929 in Church Point, LA, where she lived her entire life.

Her first job was working at Miram Harmon’s general store on Main Street, until he closed the store to retire. She then worked at Ms. Gussie’s fabric shop. Then she worked and retired from Vee’s 5&10, which happened to be the same building as Mr. Miram’s store. She then cared for our mother, Ms. Inez Richard, until her death. Lou was a quiet, humble woman dedicated to her family.

She was predeceased by her parents, Theogene and Inez Guidry Richard and her siblings, Herbert and Joseph Richard, Marie Ella Savoie, Josephine Richard, and Ursula Richard. She is survived by her sisters, Mary Maude Richard of Church Point, LA, Theresa Olivier of Lafayette, LA, and Genora Ragsdale of Allen, TX and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank her wonderful caregivers, who attended lovingly to her for the past year and a half.”

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, May 4, 2026 at Guidry Funeral Home in Church Point. Visitation will be held at Guidry Funeral Home from 10:00 AM Monday until the time of the Service. Deacon Byrne Winn will conduct the Service with entombment immediately following in the OLSH Mausoleum on Hwy 35 north of Church Point. Arrangements are being handled by Guidry Funeral Home, Inc.; 219 N. Broadway, Church Point, LA.
