Church Point, LA:         A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, March 25, 2022 at the St. Edmund Catholic Chapel in Branch, LA for Lorita S. Fontenot, 84, the former Lorita Sonnier. Mrs. Fontenot, a native and lifetime resident of Church Point, passed away Wednesday morning, March 23 at her residence. Rev. Father Brian Harrington will be the celebrant of the Mass and interment will be in the St. Edmund Cemetery adjacent to the church.

She is survived by her son, Joey Fontenot and wife Paula of Church Point, LA; a daughter, Audrey Hebert of Branch; a sister, Lucille Gamble and husband Nick in England; seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and her extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Lorena Richard Sonnier; her husband, Syrus Fontenot; two sons, Danny and Troy Fontenot and a son-in-law, Craig Hebert.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Thursday, March 24 and continue from 8:00 AM Friday until the time of services. A rosary will be recited in the funeral home at 7:30 PM Thursday by Deacon Byrne Winn.  A devoted and loving mother and grandmother, Mrs. Fontenot will be missed by all who knew her.
