Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church; Church Point, La. for Lloyd Smith, 83. Mr. Smith died at 10:05 A.M. Monday, March 10, 2008 at Acadia - St. Landry Hospital; Church Point. He was a native of Church Point. Monsignor Jefferson J. DeBlanc will conduct the services with interment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Church Point.
Survivors include two sons: Gary Smith and wife Evelyn of Sunset, La. and Philip Smith and wife Debra of Lafayette, La.; a brother, Paul Smith of Cottonport, La. and two sisters: Ester Stanford of Port Barre, La. and Elodie Weber of Lafayette. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Benoit Smith.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 11:00 A.M. Tuesday March 11, 2008 until the services at 3:00 P.M. that day.
A U.S. Army Veteran of World War 2 and long-time member of American Legion Post 225 in Church Point, Mr. Smith will be honored at graveside by the Post Honor Guard. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the World War 2 Museum; New Orleans, La.
