Obituary

Lionel Mounier was a man unlike any other. He was a well-known man throughout the community and the perfect example of a "true Cajun gentleman". Known as "Papa Moon", "Pa-Pa", or "Mounier", Lionel was a truly unforgettable man and it seems that everyone who knew him has their own story to tell about him. Lionel embraced life fully. He never hestitated to let his opinions known in that loud, gruff voice of his. It was often said that he was heard long before he was seen!! He was a true outdoorsman, a farmer and hunter, who cared greatly for nature. A man who loved knowledge, he sought to learn all he could whether it be through reading, watching, or experiencing. His life was filled with all the things that he enjoyed and all the people who cared for him.
Lionel was a family man. He was kind-hearted and caring about all his relations. Having lost both his parents at a young age, Lionel, with the help of his SPECIAL Aunt Mae, helped his grandmother raise his younger siblings. This experience helped him to know and value his loved ones.
Lionel is survived by his two daughters, Anna Fontenot and husband Jimmie of Lawtell, Rebecca Mounier of Church Point and fiance Scott Sylvester of Lawtell, and one son Lionel Mounier, Jr. and wife Margaret "Chickie" Mounier of Church Point. He is also survived by one brother, Jimmy Mounier of Morgan City, and two sisters, Mary Fontenot of Ville Platte and Loretta Smith of Lake Charles, ten grandchildren and one grandchild.
