Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, November 19, 2012 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, La. for Mrs. Linus Sonnier, 95, the former Mary Elta Elkins. Mrs. Sonnier, a native and life-long resident of Church Point, died at 8:15 A.M. Saturday, November 17 at Acadia-St. Landry Hospital in Church Point. Monsignor Jefferson J. DeBlanc will conduct the services with entombment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum on Highway 35 north of Church Point.

Survivors include her sons: Kerney Sonnier and wife Maxie of DeRidder, La., Whitney Sonnier and wife Fernella of Church Point, Hilton Sonnier and wife Margo of Lafayette, La. and Winfred Sonnier and wife Patsy of Ossun, La.; her daughters, Anita Kitcher of Scott, La., Virginia and husband Errol Ardoin of Ville Platte, La., Norma and husband Kenneth Thibodeaux and Susie and husband Bart Thibodeaux-all of Church Point; a sister, Mrs. Remi (Thelma) Andrepont of Church Point; twenty-three grandchildren, thirty-two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Columbus and Helena (Smith) Elkins; her husband, Linus Sonnier and a daughter, Carolyn Sonnier Thibodeaux.

The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 2:00 P.M. until 10:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 18 and continue from 8:00 A.M. Monday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Sunday by Monsignor DeBlanc.
