Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, La. for Linus Joseph Duplechin, 87. Mr. Duplechin, a native and life-long resident of Church Point currently residing in the Veterans Home in Jennings, La., died at 8:48 P.M. Sunday, September 22 at the American Legion Hospital in Jennings. Monsignor Jefferson J. DeBlanc will conduct the services with interment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery on Highway 35 north of Church Point.
Survivors include his wife, Floris Richard Duplechin of Church Point; a son, Gary Duplechin and wife Jo Ann and a daughter, Jeanette Carrier and husband Jimmy-all of Church Point; a brother, Harry Duplechin of Church Point; seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Tiny Carrier Duplechin; two sons, Patrick and Hubert Duplechin and a daughter, Betty Duplechin.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. on Monday, September 23 and continue from 8:00 A.M. Tuesday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Monday by Monsignor DeBlanc.
Mr. Duplechin, a salesman with the Evangeline Brokerage of Church Point for some forty years, was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. A long-time member of American Legion Post 225, VFW Post 9903 and Knights of Columbus Council 2504 of Church Point, he will be honored with a Flag Presentation Ceremony at the time of services.
