Church Point, LA A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at St. John Berchman Catholic Church in Cankton, LA for Mr. Linic Joseph Richard, 76, who passed away on Thursday, September 21 at 8:00 AM at his residence in Bristol, LA. Msgr. Russell Harrington, Pastor of St. John Berchman Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the Mass. Burial will take place in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery adjacent to the Church in Church Point.
Mr. Linic, a resident of Bristol, was the son of the late Daniel Richard and the former Mabel Savoy. A member and usher at St. John Berchman Catholic Church in Cankton, Mr. Richard organized the Cankton men's group that attended the Our Lady of the Oaks Retreat in Grand Coteau, LA each year. He was also one of the founders of the St. Landry Water Board, District 2. Mr. Linic was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Gloria R. Richard of Bristol; two daughters, Melissa R. Cormier and husband Chris of Bristol and Carlene Richard of Bristol; five grandchildren, Colby Nelams and wife Lindsey, Terrance Richard, Kyle Nelams, Kacie Richard Gordon and husband John Gordon, Jr. and Blaze Nelams; three great grandchildren, Savannah, John Gordon III, and Aydenn Gordon and one sister, Georgie Walker.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Bertha Bernard and Shirley Castille.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home on Friday, September 22 from 9:00 AM until 10:00 PM and continue on Saturday from 8:00 AM until the time of services. A rosary will be recited in the funeral home Friday evening at 7:00 PM.
