Church Point, LA:         A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Levins Joseph Lavergne, 97. Mr. Lavergne, a native of Church Point and a long-time resident of Lake Charles, LA,  passed away on  Monday, October 5 at the Southwest LA Veterans Home in Jennings, LA. Reverend "Pere" Rozas, parochial vicar of the church, will be the celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the entombment in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum on Hwy 35 north of Church Point.

He is survived by his brother, Daniel Lavergne and wife Linda of Church Point, a sister, Willa Mae Olivier and husband Mickey of Church Point and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Lorena Elkins Lavergne; his wife, Agnes Manuel Lavergne; two brothers, Wilbert and Ervin Lavergne and three sisters, Donatile Thibodeaux, Lelia Colligan and Joyce Lavergne.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 11:00 AM until 9:00 PM on Tuesday, October 6 and continue on Wednesday from 8:00 AM until the time of services. A rosary will be recited in the funeral home at 7:00 PM Tuesday by Deacon David Menard. A proud WWII Navy veteran, Mr. Lavergne worked for the Calcasieu Parish Government and was active in civic affairs for a number of years. He will be honored with a Flag Presentation Ceremony at the time of services. Guidry Funeral Home, 219 N. Broadway St., Church Point, LA is in charge of final arrangements.
