Leona Daigle
Carriere
July 2, 1932 – June 18, 2021
Church Point, LA: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, June 25, 2021 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Ms. Leona Daigle Carriere, 88, the former Leona Theresa Daigle. Ms. Carriere passed away at 10:37 PM Friday, June 18 at Villa Toscana Nursing Home in Houston, TX. Reverend Kenneth Domingue, pastor of St. John Berchmans Church in Cankton, LA, will be the celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the committal services in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum on Hwy 35 north of Church Point. Leona, a native of Church Point, was the daughter of Chris and Emerite Boudreaux Daigle. She is survived by her sons; Jules Bryan Carriere and wife Cynthia of Houston and Paul Gary Carriere and wife Lorna of Sulphur, LA; her daughter, Carleen C. Cormier and husband G. Scott Cormier of Westlake, LA; her grandchildren, whom she adored as much as they adored their "Memo": Ryan, Gary Paul, Brandon, Christopher, Michelle, Juliana, Raquel, Treavor, Amanda and Nicholas; her great-grandchildren: Jordan, Mason, Mia, Rey, Jhett, Blaise, Jak, Wesley, Max, Case, Jaxston and Maverick; a brother, Clayton Daigle and a sister, Genita D. Cormier. She was preceded in death by her parents; the loving father of her children, Jules Carriere; three brothers, Kirby, Jimmy and Chris Daigle and a sister, Lolita D. Thibodeaux. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 12:00 Noon Friday until the time of services. A rosary will be recited in the funeral home at 1:00 PM by Deacon Byrne Winn. As a faithful Catholic and devoted mother and "Memo", Leona relied on God's graces as she lovingly raised her children and brought joy to her grandchildren. She is fondly remembered for her God-given gift of humor and descriptive language that could lift the spirits and console the heartbroken. Truly loved by all those who knew her for her patience to listen and give advice and wisdom, her humorous character and nurturing, compassionate love; she will truly be missed and never forgotten.
