Church Point, LA Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at St. Edmond Catholic Church in Lafayette, LA for Lelia Doucet, 81. Ms. Doucet was a native of Church Point, LA, but lived most of her life in Lafayette. Currently a resident of Evangeline Oaks Nursing Home, she died Monday morning, July 4 at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center in Lafayette. Father Gary Schexnayder will conduct the services with entombment following in the St. Peter and Paul Mausoleum adjacent to the church in Scott, LA.

Survivors include a son, Frederick Guidry and wife Debbie of Lafayette; a daughter, Annette LeBlanc and husband Joe of Scott; two brothers, Wilbert Doucet and wife Minnie of Groves, TX and Etienne "Douce" Doucet of Church Point; a sister, Shirley Kidder of Church Point; three grandchildren, Blake Leblanc and wife Tonya and Jenah and Evan Guidry; two great-grandchildren, Macy and Devin LeBlanc.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Etienne Doucet, Sr. and Edna Venable Doucet; three brothers, Villa Joe, Vilfray and Sidney Doucet and two sisters, Letha May Seaux and Gladys Schexnayder.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed at DelHomme Funeral Home on Bertrand Drive in Lafayette from 3:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 5 and continue from 8:00 A.M. Wednesday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held there at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday.
Ms. Doucet was an employee of the Lafayette Parish Consolidated Government for many years.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and aides on the 4th floor of Lourdes and extend a 'special thank you" to the Evangeline Oaks Nursing Home staff, especially the Therapy Department, Ty and Aukie.
