Church Point, La. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, May 14, 2015 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, La. for Leland Joseph Thibodeaux, 84. Mr. Thibodeaux, a native and long-time resident of Church Point, died Tuesday morning, May 12 at Acadia-St. Landry Hospital in Church Point. Monsignor Jefferson J. DeBlanc and Deacon Jim Cormier will conduct the services with interment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery on Highway 35 north of Church Point.
Survivors include his wife, Nita Venable Thibodeaux of Church Point; his sons, Dale Thibodeaux and wife Diane and Larry Thibodeaux-all of Church Point; a daughter, Linda Leung and husband David of Richmond, Tex.; a brother, Carrol Thibodeaux and wife Shirley of Church Point; two sisters, Mildred Wimberley of Church Point and Lily Fontenot of Eunice, La.; seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pierre Ernest and Laura Sonnier Thibodeaux; a son, Keith Thibodeaux and a great-grandson, Christian D'Heilly.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 3:00 P.M. until 10:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 13 and continue from 9:00 A.M Thursday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held there at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday by Deacon Cormier.
A retired Rural Postal Carrier, Mr. Thibodeaux was a member of Woodmen of the World Camp 444 and the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Posse for a number of years.
