Church Point, LA:      A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Leander Joseph Carriere, 84, who passed away at 2:30 AM Monday, June 24 at Acadia-St. Landry Guest Home in Church Point. Fr. Brian Harrington, Pastor of the Church, will be the Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the Burial Rite immediately following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery on Hwy 35.

Leander, a resident of Church Point, was the son of the late William Carrier and the former Marceline Boudreaux. Mr. Carriere owned and operated Lee's Auto Repair in Opelousas for many years. Truly loved, he will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by two daughters, Rochelle "Shelly" Fitzgerald and husband Eddie of Paterson, LA and Lacy Carriere and fiance Trenidy Duhon of Lake Charles, LA; eight grandchildren: Abby Paradee and husband Glen, Ryan Fitzgerald and wife Danielle, Meredith Bonneval and husband Patrick, Noah and Elijah Gaines and Ayden, Briea and Luna Duhon; nine great grandchildren: Cameron, Landon and Taylor Fitzgerald, Katie, Logan and Olivia Paradee, Liam and Tilda Bonneval and Talon Gaines; two sisters, Eva Guillory and husband Joe of Reeves, LA and Helen Comeaux and husband Hilton of Sunset, LA and two brothers, Roger Carriere and wife Cathy and Mark Carrier-all of Scott, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Beverly Carriere; two sisters, Mildred LaPoint and Geraldine Thibodeaux and one brother, Gerald Carrier.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 26, from 9:00 AM until the time of the Funeral Mass. A rosary will be recited in the funeral home at 1:15 PM prior to leaving for the mass.
