Church Point, LA:         A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, February 5, 2021 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Lawrence Oran "Larry" Perkins, 74. Mr. Perkins, a long-time resident of Church Point, passed away Monday afternoon, February 1 at Opelousas General Hospital in Opelousas, LA. Monsignor Jefferson J. Deblanc will be the celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the committal services in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum on Hwy 35 north of Church Point. Masks are required.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy Barousse Perkins of Church Point; a son, Jimmy Perkins and wife Miranda of KY; his daughters, Theresa Perkins Guenther and husband David of NM and Jackie Perkins McCutchen and husband Stephen of GA; his sisters: Betty Stevenson, Kristine Espinosa and husband Pete and Billie Rosenberger-all of TX; six grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; his father-in-law, Johnny Barousse; his in-laws: John and Laura Barousse, Ray and Becky Bourque; Chuck and Tina Saichuk and Bill and Karen Quirk and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Oran Perkins, Sr. and Margaret Ingram Perkins; two brothers, Richard and Carl Perkins; four sisters: Peggy Esparza, Mildred Love, Nellie Cook and Florence Perkins and his mother-in-law, Gertie Barousse. The family requests that visiting hours continue uninterrupted at Guidry Funeral Home from 3:00 PM Thursday, February 4 until the time of services Friday. A rosary will be recited in the funeral home at 6:30 PM Thursday by Deacon Doug Wimberly. Pallbearers will be Cody Bourque and Caleb Barousse, Will and Sam Quirk, John-Wyatt Treme and John Barousse. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Quirk and Ray Bourque. Devoted to his extended family, Mr. Perkins will truly be missed.
