Church Point, La. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, February 20, 2016 at the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Chapel in Church Point, La. for Kenneth James "Noose" Sonnier, Sr., 63. Mr. Sonnier, a long-time resident of Church Point, died Tuesday afternoon, February 16 at his residence. Father Mark Melancon will conduct the service with disposition still to be determined by family.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Jagneaux Sonnier of Church Point; two sons, Kenneth J. Sonnier, Jr. and wife Sherry of Carencro, La. and Chris Sonnier of Port Barre, La.; two daughters, Danielle Sonnier of Mire, La. and Rachelle Sonnier of Opelousas, La.; Three brothers, Roy Deranger and wife Shirley of Lafayette, La., Theophile "Toup" Sonnier and wife Pam of Youngsville, La. and Johnny Sonnier and wife Winnie of Carencro; a sister, Linda Young and husband Joe of Church Point; three stepsons, Johnathon Jagneaux and companion Jackie Richard and James Avery Jagneaux and companion Mindy Richard-all of Branch, La. and Christopher Jagneaux and companion Christine Thibodeaux of Church Point; a stepdaughter, Lynn Jagneaux of Church Point; four grandchildren and eleven step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ovia and Rose Ozenne Sonnier.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed at the chapel from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held there at 9:45 A.M. by Father Melancon.
A U.S. Army veteran of the Viet Nam Era, His family will be presented a U.S. flag at the service.
