Church Point, LA:            A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Mr. Kenneth Joseph Smith, 70, who passed away 10:15 AM on Monday, December 16, 2019 at his residence. Fr. David Rozas, associate pastor of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the Mass and entombment will take place in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum on Hwy 35 north of Church Point.
Kenneth, a resident of Church Point, was the son of the late Martin Smith and the former Loithy Darby. Affectionately known as "The Alligator Man" or "Worm"; Mr. Smith loved his wife, his daughters and his dogs. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by two daughters, Michele S. Richard and husband Kenny of Youngsville, LA and Brandi Jo Guidry of Church Point; one granddaughter, Rolanda Smith; one great-grandson, Michael; one sister, Cynthia Carriere and fiancé Blaine "B.J." Johnson of Church Point and one brother, Gerald "Red" Savoy of Opelousas, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Kateri Smith and one great-grandson, Jayden Smith. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 18 from 9:00 AM until the time of funeral services.
