Church Point, LA: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point for Mr. J.Y. Thibodeaux, 73, who passed away surrounded by family at 11:17 AM Saturday, August 31, at his residence. Fr. Brian Harrington, Pastor of the Church, will be the Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the Burial Rite immediately following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery on Hwy 35.

J.Y., a resident of Church Point, was the son of the late Pierre Thibodeaux and the former Elvina Carriere. If you knew J.Y., you would understand his humor when he let you know he was a graduate of "The Pecan Island University". A loving husband, father, grandfather and father-in-law; his favorite things in life were swinging in his porch swing and loving his grandchildren. He often used the word "Dude", but that was J.Y.!!

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Peggy Matte Thibodeaux of Church Point; his son, Kevin Thibodeaux and wife Melissa of Church Point; three grandchildren: Jadith Thibodeaux of Baton Rouge, LA and Abigail and Caiden Thibodeaux-both of Church Point; two sisters, Albercy Henry and husband Kenneth of Church Point and Bonita Brown and husband Curt of Brusly, LA; two brothers, Calvin Thibodeaux and wife Judy and Shelton Thibodeaux-all of Church Point and his ex-daughter-in-law, Ciji Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jason Thibodeaux and two brothers, Herbert and Russell Thibodeaux.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 4, from 10:00 AM until the time of the Funeral Mass. A Rosary will be recited at 1:15 PM in the funeral home prior to leaving for the Church.
