Church Point, LA:     Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 PM Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Julius U Lavergne, 84. Mr. Lavergne, a native and long-time resident of Church Point, died Friday evening, March 24 at his residence. Rev. Father Brian Harrington, pastor of the church, will conduct the services with interment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery adjacent to the church.

Survivors include his daughter, Twila Cormier of Church Point; a son, Donald Lavergne of Columbia, MS; his grandchildren: Jenny, Jeff, and David Cormier; Sarah "Beth" Carriere, Matthew Lavergne, Tyler Noecker and Sarah Anne Froehlick; his great-grandchildren: Morgan, Hayden, Blair and Macie Carriere and a sister and a brother, Beverly Richard and Arthur Lavergne-both of Abbeville, LA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joycelyn Lavergne; his parents, Moise and Louise Castille Lavergne; a son, Kendall Lavergne and a son-in-law, Jim Cormier.

The family requested that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 9:00 AM Wednesday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held there at 12:30 PM by Deacon Byrne Winn.

A tugboat captain for a number of years, Mr. Lavergne was truly loved and will be missed by those who knew him. A US Air Force veteran, he will be honored with a US Flag Presentation at the time of services. Arrangements are being handled by Guidry Funeral Home, Inc.; 219 N.
