Church Point, LA:         A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 PM Thursday, December 31, 2020 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Jules Carriere, 89. Mr. Carriere, a native and long-time resident of Church Point, passed away Monday morning, December 28 at the Southwest LA War Veterans Home in Jennings, LA. Reverend Patrick Broussard, pastor of the church, will be the celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the committal services in the Monsignor Bienvenu Mausoleum on Hwy 35 north of Church Point.

He is survived by his wife, Renola LeBlanc Carriere of Church Point; the mother of his children, Leona Daigle Carriere of Church Point; his sons, Bryan Carriere and wife Cynthia of Houston, TX and Gary Carriere and wife Lorna of Sulphur, LA; a daughter, Carleen Cormier and husband Scott of Church Point; a brother, Jake Fontenot of Church Point; his sisters, Betty Ann Thibodeaux and husband Herman and Bonnie Fontenot Hooper Thibodeaux-all of Church Point and Patsy Blum and husband Daniel of Lafayette, LA; ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Noah and Mary Benoit Carriere and two sisters. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 10:00 AM until the time of services on Thursday. A rosary will be recited in the funeral home at 12:30 PM by Deacon Byrne Winn. A U.S. Army veteran of the WWII and Korean War Eras and a devoted family man, Mr. Carriere worked as an operator with Union Texas Petroleum for a number of years.
