Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at St. Edmund Catholic Church in Branch, La. for Joycelyn C. Matte, 79, the former Mary Joycelyn Carriere. Mrs. Matte, a native of Church Point, La. and long-time resident of Branch, died at 7:10 P.M. Monday, June 30 at her residence. Father Paul Broussard will conduct the services with interment following in the St. Edmund Cemetery adjacent to the church.

Survivors include her husband Pierre "Peter" Matte of Branch; a son, Keith Matte and wife Mendy of Branch; two daughters, Cathy Simon of Lafayette, La. and Davina Boudreaux of Duson, La.; a brother, Shelton Carriere of Church Point; eight grandchildren: Summer Richard, April Fontenot, Olivia, Kristen and Adriana Matte and D.J. and Katelyn Boudreaux; five great-grandchildren: Elizabeth Richard, Ian, Sophie and Breyden Fontenot and Gracie Thibodeaux and two step great-grandchildren, Kelby and Gavin Richard.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonce and Ernestine Leger Carriere; a son, Don Matte; a sister, Margaret Morein and a sister-in-law, Beverly Carriere.

The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 3:00 P.M. until 10:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 1 and continue from 8:00 A.M. Wednesday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday by the St. Leo and St. Edmund Catholic Daughters.

Mrs. Matte was a an active member of the St. Leo and St. Edmund Catholic Daughters and their Altar Societies for many years.
