A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12: 00 Noon Friday, December 7, 2018 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Joyce G. LeBlanc, 98, the former Mary Joyce Guidry. Mrs. LeBlanc, a native and long-time resident of Church Point, died Tuesday morning, December 4 at Acadia-St. Landry Guest Home in Church Point. Monsignor Jefferson J. DeBlanc will conduct the services with interment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery adjacent to the church.
Survivors include her children: Jim "Lanny" LeBlanc of Mandeville, Donald LeBlanc and wife Dorothy of Moss Bluff, LA, Miriam LeBlanc Dedier and husband Lenny of Hot Springs, AR, Dolores Leblanc Sparks and husband Jim of Bella Vista, AR, Diane Leblanc Rogers and husband Kris of Round Rock, TX and Claire LeBlanc LeJeune and husband Donald of Church Point; a brother, Jack Guidry and wife Jackie of Metairie, LA; eighteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur LeBlanc; her parents, Ernest and Daisy David Guidry; a brother, Robert Guidry and sister-in-law, Ninfa Guidry; an infant sister, Clara Guidry; a grandson, Gary Andrus and a great-granddaughter, Bradley Guillory.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 1:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 6 and continue from 9:00 A.M. Friday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held there at 6:00 P.M. Thursday by Monsignor DeBlanc.
"Memon" to her family and "Mrs. Joyce" to her friends; Mrs. LeBlanc was a life-long member of OLSH Church and her neighborhood rosary group, a volunteer at the OLSH rectory and a CCD teacher in her younger years. She also worked at Fontenot and Guidry Department Store and at Church Point Pharmacy before retiring. Her home was a meeting place for holidays and all remember her big back yard where many games were played. Gardening, cooking, and spending time with family and friends were her loves.
