Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 9, 2010 at The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary; Mire, La. for Joseph "Scotty" Venable, 42. Mr. Venable, a native of Church Point and resident of Scott, La., died on Wednesday morning, January 6 in Beaumont, Tex. Monsignor Russell Harrington will conduct the services with entombment following in the church mausoleum in Mire.

Survivors include his mother, Lynette Johnson Venable of Sunset, La.; a son, Colby John Venable of Youngsville, La.; a brother, Don Venable and companion Faye Duhon of Sunset, La.; three sisters: Lisa Savoy and husband Dwayne of Cankton, La., Tracy Menard and husband Tommy of Opelousas, La. and Melissa Lafosse and husband Smokey of Church Point; nieces Cassie and Ashley Venable and nephews Toban and Tori Venable and Truman Menard.

He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Venable and a brother, Markus Venable.

The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 1:00 P.M. until 10:00 P.M. on Friday, January 8 and continue from 8:00 A.M. Saturday until the time of the services.
A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Friday.
