A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, La. for Joseph Abey "JB" Richard, 81, who passed away on Monday, January 5, 2015 at 1:10 am at Acadia-St. Landry Guest Home.

Rev. Stephen Ugwu, Pastor of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the Mass.

Burial will take place in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery - Hwy 35.

Mr. "JB", a resident of Church Point, was the son of the late AB Richard and the former Theresa Belleaux.

He is survived by three daughters, Dana Richard of Maurice, LA, Dedria Daigle and husband Chad of Scott, LA and Leslie R. Hollier of Church Point; two sons, Ricky Richard of Church Point and Kurt Richard of Church Point; nine grandchildren: Andre Richard, Michelle Richard, Haley Lejeune, Taylor Richard, Lindsey Daigle, Blair Daigle, David Hollier, Alex Richard and Ryker Richard and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Elmire Matte Richard; two sons, Kearney Richard and Dale Richard and two grandsons, Kearney Nicholas Richard and Brooks O'Neal Richard.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 6 from 10:00 am until 10:00 pm and continue on Wednesday from 8:00 am until the time of service. A rosary will be recited Tuesday evening at 7:00 pm in the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Kurt Richard, Rusty Barousse, David Hollier, Alex Richard, Chad Daigle, Dylan Lavergne and Winsor Lyons.
