Church Point, LA A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Mr. Joseph Howard 'Blue' Guidry, 87, who passed away at 4:15 PM Sunday, February 5 at Lake Charles Medical Center in Lake Charles, LA. Fr. Mitchell Guidry will be Celebrant of the Mass with burial immediately following in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum on Hwy 35 north of Church Point.
Mr. Guidry, a long-time resident of Church Point and currently a resident of Lake Charles, was the son of the late Noah Guidry and the former Evelena Richard. A service man with Canal Refinery in Church Point, he retired after many years of loyal and dedicated service. Anything that 'Blue' did was done to the best of his ability. He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Anna C. Guidry of Lake Charles; one step daughter, Lorna Lanier and husband Kent of Aberdeen, Scotland; three step sons, Reggie Lavergne and wife Myra of Moss Bluff, LA, Mark Lavergne and wife Debbie of Lake Charles and Roderick Lavergne and wife Belinda of Lake Charles; two sisters, Gladys Savoie and Bernadine Richard; two brothers, Paul Guidry and Bernice Guidry and wife Mary and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren that he loved so very dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Rita Royer Guidry. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 7 from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM and continue from 9:00 AM Wednesday until the time of services.
