Church Point, La. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, November 6, 2014 at St. John Chapel in Lewisburg, La. for Joseph Raoul Bourque, 77. Mr. Bourque, a native of Lewisburg and long-time resident of rural St. Landry Parish near Church Point, La., died at 8:04 P.M. Monday, November 3 at his residence. Monsignor Jefferson J. De Blanc will conduct the services with interment following in the St. John Cemetery adjacent to the chapel.

Survivors include his wife, Wilda Carrier Bourque of Church Point; six daughters: Barbara Bourque of Church Point, Patricia Sonnier Trahan and husband Kirk of Lewisburg, Jeanna Dupree and husband Clayton of Rayne, La., Sue Sonnier of Lewisburg, Tammy Lamonte and husband Gino of Opelousas, La. and Lisa Bourque Marks and husband Neil of Church Point; a brother, Ray Bourque of Atlanta, Ga.; twenty-two grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mentor and Virginia Castille Bourque; a son, Joseph Leroy Bourque; a son-in-law, Bert Sonnier; a grandson, Giovanni Bertrand Lamonte II; two brothers, J.B. and Johnny Bourque and a godson, Larry James Carrier.

The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 12:00 Noon until 9:00 P.M. on Wednesday, November 5 and continue from 8:00 A.M. Thursday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday by Deacon Bryne Winn.

A retired employee of the Louisiana DOTD with some thirty-two years of service and a member of the Lawtell, La. Knights of Columbus Council; Mr. Bourque was a great husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He never met a stranger; everyone that knew him loved him.
