Church Point, LA:    Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at Guidry Funeral Home in Church Point, LA for Mr. Joseph Nelson Bourgeois, 72, who passed away at 1:59 PM Friday, March 4 at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, LA. Deacon Byrne Winn will conduct the funeral services with burial following in the Southwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Jennings, LA.

Joseph, a native of Lewisburg, LA and resident of the Southwest LA Veterans Home, was the son of the late Ned Bourgeois and the former Virgie Guidry. He is survived by three sisters, Fabiola B. Tweedel of Lewisburg and Nellie B. Soileau and Nelda B. Fisher-both of Opelousas, LA; one brother, Charles Bourgeois and wife Patsy of Opelousas and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Lorita Mouton.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Tuesday, March 8 and continue on Wednesday from 8:00 AM until the time of services. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM Tuesday in the funeral home by Cherie Tweedel.

A U. S. Marine Corps veteran of the Viet Nam War, Mr. Bourgeois worked in the oil and gas industry for a number of years. He will be honored  with a Flag Presentation at time of services. The family would like to thank the staff of Southwest Louisiana Veterans Home and Rapides Regional Medical Center MICU for their care of Mr. Bourgeois during his illness.
