Church Point, LA     Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Mrs. Johnny Barousse, 83, the former Gertie Mae Sonnier. Mrs. Barousse, a native and long-time resident of Church Point, died Saturday evening, November 12 at Eunice Manor in Eunice, LA. Monsignor Jefferson J. DeBlanc will conduct the services with interment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery on Hwy 35 north of Church Point. Survivors include her husband, John Hugh Barousse, Sr. of Church Point; her son, John Hugh Barousse, Jr. and wife Laura of Church Point; her daughters, Becky Bourque and husband Ray and Cathy Perkins and husband Larry-all of Church Point, Tina Saichuk and husband Chuck of Opelousas, LA and Karen Quirk and husband Bill of Washington, LA.; her sisters, Merlis Fruge, Ruth Fruge and Lorita Fontenot-all of Church Point and Lucille Gamble and husband Nick of Little Somerford, Wiltshire, England; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Lorena Richard Sonnier and four grandchildren, Clarissa, Bonnie and Terry Bourque and Jacob Barousse. The family requested that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home beginning at 2:00 P.M. Monday, November 14 and continuing uninterrupted until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held there at 7:00 P.M Monday by Monsignor DeBlanc. Married for over sixty-four years to Mr. Barousse, Mrs. Barousse was a member of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, American Legion Post 225 and worked for Bill's Dollar Store and J.E. Daigle's for many years. Arrangements are being handled by Guidry Funeral Home, Inc.
