Church Point, LA Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Leesville, LA for Mr. John Lewis Powers Sr., 90, who passed away on Wednesday, November 16 at 4:00 AM at Southwest Veterans Home in Jennings LA.
Deacon Byrne Winn will conduct the funeral services.
Burial with Air Force Military Honors will take place in Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Leesville, LA.
Mr. Powers, a resident of Jennings, LA was the son of the late Albert Powers and the former Nora Bailey. John served in both the United States Army and United States Air Force. He was a veteran of WWII, Korea and Vietnam. Mr. Powers retired after some twenty-two years of honorable service to our country.
He is survived by one son, John L. Powers, Jr. and wife Michelle of Magnolia, TX; one daughter, Janet Powers of Duson, LA; eight grandchildren, Austin, Ian and Ali Powers, Hunter and Grant Sweeney, Madison, Eli and Jillian Lyons and one brother, Benny Powers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Terry Powers, and one sister, Frances Powers.
