Obituary

Church Point, LA Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Guidry Funeral Home in Church Point, LA for John LeJeune, Jr., 76. Mr. LeJeune, a native and long-time resident of rural St. Landry Parish near Lawtell, La died Monday morning, May1 at Carpenter House of Acadiana in Lafayette, LA. Monsignor Jefferson J. DeBlanc will conduct the services with interment following in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Eunice, LA. Survivors include his wife, Norma Cormier LeJeune of Lawtell, LA; two sons, Kenneth LeJeune and wife Carey of Ocala, FL and Timmy LeJeune and wife Monica of Swords, LA; two daughters, Pam Wimberley and husband Dale and Wanda Matte and husband Kevin-all of Church Point; three brothers: Irby LeJeune and wife Anna and Michael LeJeune-all of Church Point and Norris LeJeune and wife Paula of Lawtell; two sisters, Betty Thibodeaux and husband John of Baton Rouge, LA and Verbie Benoit and husband Johnny of Addis, LA; eight grandchildren: John Louis, Hailie, Piper and Makayla Lejeune, Jessica and Robby Wimberley and Alec and Annie Matte; four great-grandchildren: Audrey, Katherine, Kenneth and Evelyn Lejeune and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John LeJeune, Sr. and Ruby Faul LeJeune; a daughter, Melanie LeJeune; a brother, Ricky "Tom" LeJeune and a sister, Velma Leger. The family requested that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 11:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 3 and continue from 8:00 A.M. Thursday until the time of services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held there at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday by Monsignor DeBlanc. Mr. LeJeune was a founder of the Lawtell Mardi Gras, a Past President of the Shady Oaks Riding Club, a member of the Lawtell Knights of Columbus and he spearheaded many charitable and fundraising events.
