Church Point, LA:     Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, August 14, 2023 at St. John Berchmans Catholic Church in Cankton, LA for John Bert Johnson, 76. Mr. Johnson, a native of St. Landry Parish near Cankton, LA and resident of the Southwest LA War Veterans Home in Jennings, LA, died Wednesday morning, August 9, at the veterans home. Father Ken Domingue, pastor of the church, will conduct the services with entombment following in the St. John Berchmans Mausoleum adjacent to the church.

Survivors include his sons, Richard Johnson and wife Keri and Kevin Johnson and wife Georgette-all residing in England; two stepdaughters, Amanda Sayers of Gig Harbor, WA and Dawn Sayers of Seattle, WA; his grandchildren: Oliver, Ruby and Iris Johnson; a sister, Becky Richard and husband Terry of Sunset, LA and his brothers: Gerald Johnson and wife Pat of Mobile, AL, Vernon Johnson and wife Mary of Kaplan, LA and Barney Johnson and wife Connie of Sunset. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alton and Rose Marie Boudreaux Johnson and two sisters, Lynette Venable and Mary Faith Johnson.

The family requested that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Sunday, August 13 and continue from 8:00 AM Monday until the time of services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held there at 6:00 PM Sunday by Deacon Byrne Winn.

A proud U.S. Air Force veteran of the Viet Nam Era, Mr. Johnson was an Electronics Engineer with Texas Instruments for a number of years.
