Church Point, LA A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, March 23, 2018 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Mr. John Earlin Guidry, 84, who passed away at 3:10 PM Monday, March 19 at Acadia-St. Landry Guest Home. Fr. Mitchell Guidry, Pastor of Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church in Ville Platte, will be the Celebrant of the Mass and burial will take place in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery on Hwy 35.
Mr. Earlin, a life-long resident of Church Point, was the son of the late Vincent Guidry and the former Dora Janise Guidry.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty Jean Lejeune Guidry of Church Point; three daughters, Jennifer G. Smith and husband John 'Pete' Smith of Opelousas, LA, Jessica G. Kasiri and husband Farhood of Portland, TX and Joan G. Seelman and husband Richard of New Orleans, LA; one son, Kurt V. Guidry of Lafayette, LA; nine grandchildren, Tania Mitchel, Tasha Bonin, Tanner Theriot, Tiffany Reed, Shadan Kasiri, Donny Kasiri, Cole Guidry, Mitzi Guidry and Caroline Seelman; six great grandchildren, Tyler Bonin, Austin Bonin, Bailee Mitchel, Taylon Theriot, Lainey Guidry and Zoey Guidry and one sister, Mary Lois Hidalgo. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Tommy Guidry; his daughter-in-law, Charmaine Olivier Guidry; two sisters, Velma Lejeune and Annie Rita Hollier and three brothers, Leroy Guidry, Aurel 'Boy' Guidry and John L. Guidry. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Friday, March 23 from 10:00 AM until the time of the Mass at 2:00 PM. Fr. Mitchell Guidry will recite the rosary at 1:30 PM prior to the mass in Church. A retired employee of the LA Department of Transportation and Development, Mr. Guidry was truly loved by his extended family and friends.
