Church Point, LA:         A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for John William "Johnny" David, 91. Mr. David, a native and lifetime resident of Church Point, passed away Saturday morning, January 1 at his residence. Rev. Father Pére Rozas, parochial vicar of the church, will be the celebrant of the Mass and entombment will be in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum adjacent to the church.

He is survived by his sons: John David, Jr. and wife Robbie Perry David of Kemp, TX; Lionel David and wife Tamika McKinney-David of Lewisville, TX and Guy Matthew David and wife Kimberly Cope David of Lake Charles, LA; his daughters, Cherie David and Denice Stelly and husband Carl Stelly, all of Church Point; nineteen grandchildren and thirty-eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Daigle David; his parents, Gilbert and Aline DeJean David and a grandson, Joshua Lionel David.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Monday, January 3 and continue from 8:00 AM Tuesday until the time of services. A rosary will be recited in the funeral home at 7:00 PM Monday by Deacon Byrne Winn. Pallbearers will be Guy Matthew David, Jr., Carl "Joey" Stelly, Jr., Louis "Van" Vanicor, Jr., David Vanicor, Steven Gosvener, Jr. and Bobby Parrott. A beloved husband, father and grandfather; Mr. David was a maintenance supervisor with Union Texas Petroleum for some thirty years. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, he will be honored with a Flag Presentation Ceremony at the time of services. Guidry Funeral Home, 219 N. Broadway St., Church Point, LA is in charge of final arrangements.
