Church Point, LA:     Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for John Hugh Barousse, Sr., 94. Mr. Barousse, a native and life-long resident of Church Point, died Saturday afternoon, September 16 at Acadia- St. Landry Hospital in Church Point. Father Mitchell Guidry will conduct the services with interment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery on Hwy 35 north of Church Point.

Survivors include his daughters: Rebecca "Becky" Bourque and husband Ray and Cathy Perkins-all of Church Point and Tina Saichuk and Karen Quirk and husband Bill-all of Washington, LA; a son, John Hugh Barousse, Jr. and wife Laura of Church Point; six grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Bernadette Colligan Barousse; his wife, Gertie Sonnier Barousse; four grandchildren: Clarissa, Bonnee and Terry Bourque and Jacob Barousse and two sons-in-law, "Chuck" Saichuk and Larry Perkins.

The family requested that visiting hours be observed continuously at Guidry Funeral Home from 2:00 PM Tuesday until the time of services on Wednesday. A recitation of the Rosary will be held there at 7:00 PM Tuesday by Deacon Doug Wimberly.

A U.S. Army WWII-Korean War Era veteran, Mr. Barousse was a maintenance man at Daigle Oil Co. in Church Point for a number of years. A devoted husband, parent and grandparent, he will be missed by all who knew him. He will be honored with a Flag Presentation Ceremony at the time of services.
