Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Guidry Funeral Home, Church Point for Mrs. Jim (Wanda) Roberts, 85, the former Wanda Ballard. Mrs. Roberts, a native of Oakdale, La. and long-time resident of Church Point, died at 6:25 P.M. Thursday, February 10 at Opelousas General Hospital; Opelousas, La. Monsignor Jefferson J. DeBlanc will conduct the services with interment following in the Monsignor Bienvenu Cemetery on Highway 35 north of Church Point.

Survivors include her husband, "Coach" Jim Roberts of Church Point; three sons: David Reed and wife Debbie of Rayne, La., Mark Reed and wife Jennifer of New Iberia, La. and Cliff Roberts of Breaux Bridge, La.; two daughters, Debbie and Flo Roberts of Church Point; a brother, Murphy Ballard, Jr. and wife Betty of Clarks, La.; a sister, Billie Ruth Gaskill and husband Lorenzo of Houston, Tex.; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Doug Reed; her first husband, Percy Reed; a brother, Raymond Ballard and a sister, Mildred Mitchell.

The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 4:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. on Friday, February 11 and continue from 9:00 A.M. Saturday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Friday by Monsignor DeBlanc.

Mrs. Roberts, a well-known, loved and respected teacher at Church Point High School, helped to shape the lives of Church Point's young people for the better part of five decades. A member of the Acadia Parish and the Louisiana Retired Teachers Associations, she was also a member of the Ladies Area Golf Association and a former member of the Catholic Daughters of America. Mrs. Roberts loved gardening.
