Church Point, LA:          A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday June 8, 2019 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Jessie James Richard, 70. Mr. Richard, a native and long-time resident of Church Point, died Saturday morning, March 30, 2019 at Senior Village Nursing Home, Opelousas, LA. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 A.M. until the service with a rosary at 9:30 A.M. Interment will immediately follow in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery on Hwy 35 north of Church Point.

Survivors include his son, Jesse James Richard, Jr. of Corpus Christi, TX; his daughters, Jamie Richard of Jasper, TX and Christi Rodrigue and husband Travis of Thibodeaux, LA; a step-daughter, Vanessa Williams of Corpus Christi, TX; his brothers, Pat Richard, John Dale Richard, Howard McBride and wife Jeanette-all of Church Point and Bertrand "Bert" Richard and wife Peggy of Sulphur, LA; his sisters: Linda Thibodeaux and husband Carl, Ann Terro and Connie Thibodeaux and husband Steven-all of Church Point, Judy Credeur of Scott, LA, Marjorie Stafford of Crowley, LA and Joyce Bearb and husband Donald of Stevensville, LA and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Freddie and Sybil McBride Richard; two brothers, Timothy and Benjamin Richard and a sister, Lois Richard. A decorated U.S. Army veteran of the Viet Nam War, Mr. Richard served as a detective with the Church Point Police Department. He truly will be missed by his extended family and friends.
