Funeral services will be held at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point on Tuesday October 20, 2015 at 10:00 am for Jennifer Claire Grotefend Bellard, aged 34, who passed away Friday, October 16, 2015 at 9:30 am at MD Anderson Cancer Center after a long, courageous battle with leukemia.
Interment will be at the Sacred Heart Mausoleum adjacent to the church. Deacon Jim Cormier will officiate the Communion Service. Lector will be David Grotefend. A eulogy will be given by Terrel Prevost.
She is survived by her husband, Kevin Bellard; one son, Luke Bellard; one daughter, Madelyn Bellard; her parents, Michael and Pam Grotefend; four sisters, Jackie Doucet, Holli Brou, Heidi Leblanc and Erin Grotefend; nine nephews, five nieces and several Godchildren. She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Edgar Grotefend, Elton and Genevieve Meaux; her maternal grandparents, Ulysses "Duckie" Prevost and Patricia Langlinais Prevost and her cousin, Eric Grotefend.
A native of Rayne, Jenny attended Rayne Catholic Elementary and Notre Dame High School in Crowley. After marrying, she resided in Church Point with her family. She maintained a strong connection to her immediate family, as well as her husband's. Her Catholic faith never faltered and remained a strong influence all her life. Jenny was a woman of incredible strength, a warm compassionate heart, and an inspiration to all who knew her. Her last days were filled with love, support, and comfort as she was surrounded by her family. She will be deeply missed.
Pallbearers will be Jared Leblanc, James Brou, Chance Doucet, Andrew Bellard, Larry Prevost, and Tim Prevost. Honorary pallbearers will be Nick Bellard, Grant Leblanc, Gavin Leblanc, and Alex Prevost.
The family requests that visitation be observed at Guidry Funeral Home in Church Point on Monday from 10:00 am until 8:00 pm and from 8:00 am. until services on Tuesday. A rosary will be prayed there at 7:00 pm Monday. A gathering will be held at the St. Martin Bank annex near the church following the funeral service.
Her family requests that memorial contributions be made in Jennifer Bellard's name to Our Mother of Peace Catholic School in Church Point, Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, or MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. Blood donations to those in need are also welcome and appreciated, as well as participation on bethematch.org to donate stem cells and to be included on the bone marrow registry.
