Jeff Hardy
Fontenot
November 11, 1959 – September 15, 2023
Church Point, LA:
Jeff Hardy Fontenot
November 11, 1959 – September 15, 2023
Jeff passed peacefully at his home in Branch, LA with his wife, Marisa, and the Lord at his side. He
had been diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer a short few days before. The cancer was present in his lung,
liver, kidney, and brain-having also spread to his lymph nodes. It was growing and spreading very fast in the past week.
A Celebration of Life will take place on October 21, 2023. There will be a gathering starting at 2:00 PM and a sharing of Recipes for Life (bring your best Jeff story!) at 5:00 PM in the Knights of Columbus Hall #2504 @ 9641 Church Point Hwy, Church Point, LA 70525.
Jeff was 63 years old and would have celebrated his 17th anniversary with Marisa in October.
He was born and raised in Crowley, LA. He was kindhearted, loved to drink beer, make people laugh, and
was a great cook! He shared his talents with many, catering for up to 5,000 and always willing to teach a
budding cook. His work / life / heart was in serving farmers and hunters within G&H Seed Company
from 1977-2016. In 2016 he became a partner in G&H Outdoor Store. He also served his community
as President of Fire District 6 Tax Board and shared his cooking prowess further through A-2-Fay, LLC
Catering and FontKnow's Secret Etouffee and Seasonings. He joined Cross of Glory Lutheran Church,
Baton Rouge, LA in 2019.
Jeff's immense heart and generosity will be sorely missed by many. He had the ability to make anyone
feel like they had been part of the family forever. Always going "big"!
Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, Jasper and Thelma Fontenot, his brother Joey Fontenot and
his first wife Dawanna Spell Fontenot.
He is survived by his wife, Marisa Fontenot and his remaining siblings, Douglas Fontenot of Atlanta, GA, Denise (Allen) Greene of Crowley, LA, Kim ("Mackie") Leger of Crowley, Karl (Maureen) Fontenot of Crowley and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, plants, etc. ("that Marisa would 'kill' anyway"), there will be a coordination of
donations and a plate lunch held September 30th to assist in funding Jeff's Celebration of Life.
Note: Any excess donations will be split and donated to Cross of Glory Lutheran Church in Baton Rouge and
Branch Volunteer Fire Department in Branch.
"Love you brother. If you need anything call", Jeff.
