Church Point, LA Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Sunday, June 26, 2016 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Joseph B. David, 87, who passed away at 05:05 AM Friday at his residence in Church Point. Msgr. Russell Harrington, Pastor of St. John Berchman Catholic Church, will conduct the funeral services with burial following in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church Cemetery adjacent to the church.
J.B., a native and long-time resident of Church Point, was the son of the late John David and the former Lena Benoit. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Pilar M. David of Church Point; four daughters, Pat Daigle and husband Larry of Church Point; Wynona "Blackie" Bernard and husband John Bernard, Jr. of Sunset, LA, Wanda David of Church Point and Danita Matte and husband Donald of Church Point; one son, Wayne David and wife Madeleine of Church Point; a daughter-in-law, Elena David of San Antonio, TX; four stepsons, Horace Miller and wife Mary of Phoenix, AZ, Andre Miller of Carencro, LA, Gregory Miller and wife Marianna of Saudi Arabia and Caesar Miller of Pitreville, LA; 15 grandchildren, Shane Daigle, Nakia "Dodie" Wimberley, David and Bobbie Briggs, Dayna Johnson, Dawn Bellard, Nicole, Tonya and Tyla Meche, Emily Gonzales, Alex David, Kristian Luquette, Kyle and Kallin Guidry and Kasha Boudreaux; 6 step-grandchildren, Lane, Caesar Joshua, Benjamin, Ryan, Louren and Aria Miller; 32 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and two sisters, Drucilla Cormier and Imagene Cormier.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Earline Venable David; one son, Blaine David; a great-granddaughter, Olivia Guidry and two brothers, L.P. and Patrick David.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home on Saturday, June 25 from 11:00 am until 10:00 pm and continue on Sunday from 9:00 am until the time of services. A rosary will be recited in the funeral home at 7:00 pm Saturday evening.
Pallbearers will be Wayne David, Shane Daigle, David Briggs, Kyle and Kallin Guidry and Andre, Caesar and Gregory Miller. A special Thank You is extended to his caregivers, Paulette Venable and Wanda Duvall.
J.B. retired from Napa Auto parts after 20+ years of dedicated service. He and his first wife then opened and were owner/operators of Golden Touch Jewelers, David's RV and Trailer Park and Center Stage Hair Salon. An accomplished Cajun French musician who played the guitar and accordion; he traveled through Europe and Canada playing music, volunteered to play at schools and nursing homes and promoted Cajun culture and music. J.B. was a volunteer fireman, auxiliary police officer, Sheriff's Reserve deputy and Civil Defense Volunteer and he loved to camp.
