Church Point, La.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point for James Vinton "Wildcat" Bellard, 73. Mr. Bellard, a native and life-long resident of Church Point, died at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, January 14 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette, La. Monsignor Jefferson J. DeBlanc will conduct the services with interment following in the Monsignor Bienvenu Cemetery on Highway 35 north of Church Point.

Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Stella B. Carrier and one brother Lloyd Bellard of Church Point; two step-daughters, Violet Latiolais and husband Donald and Shirley Latiolais and husband Aubrey of Church Point; four nieces: Kathleen Matte, Carolyn Forestier, Shepril Primeaux and Shana Doucet and three nephews: David, Shecky and John Carrier.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Melvina (Thibodeaux) Bellard; his parents, Eurben and Amere (Lejeune) Bellard; two sisters, Carolyn and Helen Bellard; a brother, Hilman Bellard and two nieces, Georgia Stelly and Helen Menier.

The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 12:00 noon until 10:00 P.M. on Monday, January 16 and continue from 8:00 A.M. Tuesday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. Monday by Monsignor DeBlanc.

A veteran of service in the U.S. Army and a roustabout in the Louisiana oilfield industry until his retirement, "Wildcat" was well-known in the Church Point area for his "humor".
