Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Monday, February 17, 2014 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, La. for James Venable, 64. Mr. Venable, a native and long-time resident of Church Point, died at 10:01 Friday, February 14 at Opelousas General Hospital in Opelousas, La. Monsignor Jefferson J. DeBlanc will conduct the services with interment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery on Highway 35 north of Church Point.

Survivors include his mother, Sadie Melancon Venable of Church Point; his wife, Peggy Venable of Church Point; a son, Brannon Venable and wife Tina of Carencro, La. and two grandchildren, Mayci and Treve Venable.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gervais Venable.

The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 11:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. on Sunday, February 16 and continue from 9:00 A.M. Monday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Sunday by Monsignor DeBlanc.
