Church Point, LA Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for James "Roger" Richard, 66. Mr. Richard, a native and long-time resident of Church Point, died Tuesday afternoon, November 8 at his residence. Monsignor Jefferson J. Deblanc will conduct the services with interment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery on Hwy 35 north of Church Point. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of thirty-seven years, Linda Estillette Richard of Church Point; a son, Dusty Richard and wife Cynthia of Kaplan, LA; a daughter, Lori Cormier and husband Damian of Church Point; his sisters, Linda Benoit of Church Point, Julia Salemi of Brusly, La and Elizabeth Creadeur and husband Robert of Yorkville IL and his grandchildren, Brennen, Jayden and Layla Smith, Amber and Phillip Richard and Kolden Cormier who never parted without his "for the love". He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Katherine Stanford Richard. The family requested that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 1:00 P.M. until 10:00 P.M. on Friday, November 11 and continue from 8:00 A.M. Saturday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held there at 7:00 P.M. Friday by Monsignor Deblanc. Pallbearers will be E.J. and Linton Estillette, Christopher Creadeur, Larry Durio, Matt Benoit and Pat O'Pry. Honorary pallbearers will be Brennen and Jayden Smith, Phillip Richard and Kolden Cormier. Gift Bearers will be his three sisters, Linda, Julia and Elizabeth and the readers will be Amber Richard and Layla Smith. Special thanks are extended to his oncologist, Dr. Donald, P.A. Felicia Case and the oncology nurses on the Fifth Floor at Lourdes. His caretakers for some three weeks, "Roger" always enjoyed the company of his sisters.
