Church Point, LA:        A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, October 24, 2019 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for James Michael Guidry, 70, who passed away at 4:13 PM on Monday, October 21 at his residence in Church Point. Rev. Patrick Broussard, Pastor of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the Mass and entombment will take place in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum on Hwy 35 north of town.
Michael, a life-long resident of Church Point, was the son of the late Mr. Ignace Guidry Jr. and the former Roberta Carrier. He loved Harley-Davidson Motorcycles, race cars, speed and thrills. Mr. Guidry was a member of the Hamsters Motorcycle Club and the owner of Southland Truck Center in Church Point. His favorite sayings were, "I'm not here for a long time, but I am here for a good time." and "A scared man can't gamble and a jealous man can't love." He is survived by his mother, Roberta C. Guidry of Church Point; one daughter, Chelsea Guidry of Lafayette, LA; two grandchildren, Zylen and Zo'Lei Guidry of Lafayette; one brother, Brent Guidry and wife Brenda of Church Point; the mother of his daughter, Donna Olivier Guidry of Eunice, LA; his companion, Christine Marks of Church Point and his caretaker and friend, Danny Singleton of Eunice. He was preceded in death by his father, Ignace Guidry, Jr. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 23 from 10:00 AM until 9:00 PM and continue on Thursday from 8:00 AM until the time of services. A rosary will be recited in the funeral home on Wednesday evening at 7:00 PM. Pallbearers will be Brent Guidry, Danny West, Danny Singleton, Ken Lejeune, Peter Harmon and Carl Daigle.
