Church Point, LA:         A Prayer Service will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday, October 17, 2020 at Guidry Funeral Home in Church Point, LA for James Timothy Duane "Skooter" McBroom, Sr., 37. Mr. McBroom, a native of Covington, LA and currently a resident of Acadia Parish near Church Point, passed away Sunday evening, October 11 at Acadia-St. Landry Hospital in Church Point. Final disposition will be determined later by the family.

He is survived by his wife, Kayla McBroom of Church Point; a son, James McBroom, Jr. of Church Point; two daughters, Tierra Northcutt of Rayne, LA and Mesha McBroom of Church Point; his mother-in law, Sandra Franks of Monroe, LA and a "special friend", Ernestine Bellard of Church Point. He was preceded in death by his mother, Tessa McBroom; a cousin, Michael "Pickle" Pickering and a friend, Adam "Chop-Chop" Bellard.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 11:00 AM until the time of service on Saturday. A sometime deckhand on tugboats, Mr. McBroom was loved and will be missed. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to defray the final expenses.
